Ondřej Kopecký is the head of the Palliative Medicine Clinic of the First Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University and the General University Hospital in Prague. From 2021, he is the chairman of the Czech Society Palliative Medicine. For a long time, he has been dedicated to the development of palliative care teams in Czech hospitals, both at the professional and at the organizational and managerial levels. Essential experience for him were working stays and internships in German hospitals, especially at the palliative clinic of the University Hospital of Munich, for 15 years he worked as an anesthesiologist-intensivist in the environment of intensive care and resuscitation medicine. In the field of palliative medicine, he made a significant contribution to the introduction of the concept of early palliative care, he puts special effort into the development of ethical and spiritual topics in the context of palliative care.
